Education

Website

Our website provides tree planting guidelines, urban forestry resources, information on upcoming tree-related events, and seasonal tree-care tips for the Alamo area. On it, you will find simple actions you can take to help improve our urban forest.

Training and Assistance Programs

Alamo Forest Partnership offers programs to assist you in reaching your aboricultural, tree planting, tree maintenance and urban forestry goals. These include Tree Worker Knowledge and Safety Training workshops and facilitation and support of ISA Certified Arborist exams.

Tree Trunks

Tree Trunks are a great opportunity for schools or youth groups to learn about the importance of trees and their benefit to our air, water, energy, storm water and wildlife. These trunks have learning tools such as leaf flash cards, fun books about trees, and follow a certified curriculum called Project Learning Tree.

Video

To maximize the educational outreach efforts, we plan to develop a comprehensive video that will educate the general public on the environmental benefits trees provide our community, and how to select, plant, and care for the trees in our region.

Tree Inventory

We plan to reverse the tree loss trend in our community by taking inventory of our existing tree resources and monitoring the placement of new plantings. Maintaining our records in a GIS supported program will enable us to analyze our tree canopy and quantify the associated environmental benefits.
